Alvin Cowling, Jr. served in Headquarters Battery. He was killed in action on Jan. 12, 1945.

SANGER,
March 7 [1945] (Spl) First Lt. Alvin Cowling, Jr., field artilleryman,
who was commissioned on the field of
battle last Aug. 8 [1944] and awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroic
action in France was killed in Belgium
Jan. 12 [1945], according to an official notice to his parents here. A
Graduate of Texas A&M College,
he enlisted in 1941 and served 15 months in the Canal Zone before going
overseas to England.
