George Barber served in Headquarters Battery as the commanding officer of the 87th AFA Bn.
Col. Barber was born on April 21, 1915 - he passed away on Tuesday August 8, 2006 at the age of 91.

In Memory of Lt. Alvin Cowling, Jr.
Alvin Cowling, Jr. served in Headquarters Battery. He was killed in action on Jan. 12, 1945.

Text of Article

SANGER, March 7 [1945] (Spl) First Lt. Alvin Cowling, Jr., field artilleryman, who was commissioned on the field of battle last Aug. 8 [1944] and awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroic action in France was killed  in Belgium Jan. 12 [1945], according to an official notice to his parents here. A Graduate of Texas A&M College, he enlisted in 1941 and served 15 months in the Canal Zone before going overseas to England.
